Thomas Butzlaff
Thomas Butzlaff was born in West Germany in 1960. By the age of thirteen, he knew that he wanted to be an artist. From 1980 to 1986, he studied Fine Arts at the University of Cologne. His painting teacher was Professor Toennis, who had been a student of Fritz Winter, a renowned German Informalist painter. Thomas continues to develop his own style, combining traditional techniques with coincidental happenings to create a colourful world of surreal beauty.
His abstract art speaks for itself. A key theme in his figurative paintings is the depiction of people and landscapes. He sees himself as having the task of adding something from the invisible world to the pure image of reality: The fantastic world. The painted reality lies at the interface between visible matter and invisible energy.
Once the originals have been sold, the artist reserves the right to produce multiples.
